The Union Budget 2026–27 announced a central government initiative to support states in establishing integrated university townships near major industrial and logistics corridors across India. These hubs are designed to co-locate universities, colleges, research centers, skill development units, and residential zones to bridge the gap between higher education and employment.
The Indian government is planning to establish 5 university townships near major industrial and logistics corridors across the country, as announced in the Union Budget of 206-27. These 500-to-700-acre zones will integrate higher education, research centers, skill development, and student housing with nearby industries.
An Integrated University Township serves as a modern blueprint for higher education, directly aligning academic ecosystems with industrial growth drivers. By physically and operationally co-locating independent higher education institutions (HEIs), industry clusters, and state-of-the-art shared infrastructure, this model operationalizes the core mandates of India's National Education Policy (NEP 2020) while driving the vision for Viksit Bharat 2047.
This collaborative education hubs link multiple independent public and private universities with industry clusters and shared infrastructure, R&D labs, incubation centers, sports complexes, and residential areas including public facilities and common areas of township.

Integrated University Township is a self-sustaining smart ecosystem that blends ancient Indian heritage with modern global academia under India's NEP 2020 framework. It integrates traditional knowledge, like Ayurveda and the 64 Kalas, into a digital credit system alongside elite institutional nodes & foreign university

The University Township into a digitally connected, data-driven "mini smart city". Incorporating Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud architecture, and automation optimize operations, drives research, and delivers seamless experience for students, faculty, and administrators.

The Integrated University Township (Education City) rests on blending traditional public/private investments with capital market innovations enabled by the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) frameworks in India.

The Integrated University Township (Education City) serves as a micro-engine to accelerate India's transition into a developed nation (Viksit Bharat @2047). By embedding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its operational, academic, and physical layout, the township operationalizes NEP 2020 as a driver for global sustainability and national economic sovereignty.
